Mike is an accomplished CFO, investor and advisor to Private Equity, Venture and Fortune 500 businesses. He brings full-stack operations and strategic expertise across the finance function with a particular focus on preparing companies for growth, investment and M&A. His background as both a C-Suite operator and investor brings a unique and valuable skill set for companies looking to attract investment, scale and ultimately exit. Professionalizing and optimizing small businesses for the next phase of growth is his core competency.
As an investor and M&A advisor, Mike has worked across the capital lifecycle from seed stage to public markets. He began his career with Goldman Sachs as part of the Investment Banking Division advising Fortune 500 companies on M&A and major strategic initiatives. As a private equity investor with Parthenon Capital, Mike invested in middle market services businesses, working directly with management post-acquisition to support growth and M&A. More recently as Head of Direct Investments for a >$2bn AUM Silicon Valley Family Office, Mike led Venture and Growth investments in emerging tech-enabled businesses including software, financial services, logistics and manufacturing.
As a CFO, Mike has worked with over 15 different businesses in both fractional and full-time capacities across various industries, including services, technology, manufacturing and consumer. Historically he has mostly worked with PE/VC backed businesses pursuing transformational goals and professionalization of the finance function. Mike was also Founder and CEO of Taste Trunk, one of the first digitally native specialty food marketplaces, later expanding into national retail grocery chains.
Today Mike most enjoys working with small businesses looking achieve the next level of growth. This includes preparing for an investment or M&A exit by implementing scalable systems, processes and practices that will translate into better valuations and outcomes for ownership.
Mike received a BA in Economics from Williams College and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
