Gunnar Link

CFO Consultant

Gunnar Link has served as CFO and strategic advisor to a wide range of companies, successfully leading fundraising efforts, merger integrations, and corporate turnarounds. His industry experience spans Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Technology, Health Care, Professional Services, Construction, and Tourism. Gunnar currently advises companies and sits on boards in both Boston and London.

He particularly enjoys working with founders and CEOs of early- to mid-stage organizations (0–$100M in revenue), helping them scale operations, optimize capital structure, and prepare for exit or investment.

Gunnar served as Chief Financial Officer at Talla, a Boston-based, venture-capital-backed SaaS company focused on artificial intelligence and machine learning. He oversaw the company’s finance and HR functions, completed a successful exit via merger under challenging market conditions in 2021, closed multiple funding rounds, refinanced a bank note, and guided the company through the COVID-19 pandemic—including securing PPP funding and transitioning to a fully remote operation.

Before Talla, Gunnar was Chief Financial Officer and Board Member of CAPA International, a travel-abroad organization with operations in nine countries. As part of CAPA’s executive team, he led a turnaround that moved the company from net losses to record profitability within 18 months by right-sizing operations, redirecting resources toward revenue-generating initiatives, and renegotiating key contracts.

Among his accomplishments, Gunnar has:

  • Raised multiple rounds of venture funding for biotechnology and software companies, including several crowdfunding campaigns.
  • Managed the sale of a Boston-based SaaS company.
  • Co-led numerous turnaround and restructuring initiatives, restoring profitability to underperforming organizations.
  • Provided ongoing financial education and mentorship to first-time founders.

Gunnar holds a B.S. in Economics and Accounting from Santa Clara University and an M.A. in Applied Economics from Northeastern University. He earned his CPA designation in California in 2009 and has lived and worked on both U.S. coasts as well as in London, U.K.
