Jeffrey Martin has close to three decades of experience as a CFO (full-time and fractional), venture investor, board member, and strategic advisor. Jeff’s CFO experience includes highly successful outcomes for venture-backed companies in SaaS (both B2B and B2C software), technology-enabled services, and direct-to-consumer e-commerce. From 2020 to 2023 alone, Jeff’s CFO engagements have helped to achieve multiple exits totaling over $200 million in proceeds. Over that same period, Jeff has also helped close equity and debt financing of more than $70 million in total.
These successful outcomes have all hinged upon Jeff’s ability to produce pristine financial statements that are an integral part of a compelling forward-looking strategy. Jeff brings a rare combination of Boardroom-level finance experience combined with deep, battle-tested accounting skills.
Jeff’s career began at Morgan Stanley, where he worked on high-profile M&A transactions for Philip Morris, Chrysler, and Burington Resources. He then became the founding CFO of Interactive Imaginations, where he authored the company’s first business plan and helped raise over $15 million in equity financing. Interactive Imaginations ultimately went public as 24/7 Real Media (NASDAQ: TFSM) before being acquired by WPP for $650 million. Jeff then worked at McKinsey & Company, specializing in technology, before joining Pequot Ventures (now FirstMark Capital), a leading New York venture capital firm. At Pequot, Jeff became the de facto CFO for multiple technology companies – and his success in this area became the springboard to the consulting services that he now offers.
Jeff is a graduate of Harvard Business School and Williams College. He is an avid skier and lacrosse player. He lives in Westchester, NY with his wife and daughter.
