Trudy Almquist is a results-oriented CFO with over 25 years of experience. The bulk of Trudy’s career has focused on growth management of marketing and tech service companies. She is an entrepreneurial thinker and a collaborative leader.
Most recently, Trudy was CFO at MERGE Boston, a full-service advertising agency specializing in health and wealth, where she spent 15 years. Clients included highly-regulated investment, medical device, and health insurance companies. MERGE originated as Partners & Simons, an S-Corp with three owners. Trudy worked closely with the owners to maximize profitability by shedding unprofitable business units, growing profitable sectors, streamlining processes, and negotiating more favorable contracts. At peak EBITDA margin, the company was successfully sold to a Private Equity firm. With PE ownership and bank funding, MERGE went on to acquire six companies, including agencies providing website and mobile app development, hosting & licensing, and SaaS model software development. Trudy led MERGE’s finance function through the absorption and integration of all companies, as well as the technical accounting and net working capital true-ups. Scaling with the addition of enterprise-wide systems and the implementation of best practice procedures, the company was prepped for another successful sale.
While at AimNet Solutions, a VC-backed network service provider, Trudy developed key performance metrics, complex compensation models, a five-year forecasting model, and analyzed 14 companies for acquisition.
At WeberShandwick Public Relations, Trudy was integral in the large-scale integration of systems and procedures for The Weber Group and Shandwick Public Relations. Additionally, the agency spawned multiple child companies to accommodate complex client needs. During the dot.com boom, Trudy built tools for resource and growth management; later using these tools to downsize smartly.
Trudy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Business Administration from Bentley University.
