Edward Saraiva is a seasoned financial professional with experience gained over 30 years serving as the Chief Financial Officer to private companies ranging from start-ups to multi-location businesses employing over 1,000 people. His industry experience is diverse and includes healthcare services, software as a service (SaaS), manufacturing and non-profits.
Ed’s roles and responsibilities have included, debt and equity financing including venture capital rounds, private equity financing, leveraged buy-outs, business planning, financial reporting, and the development of key performance indicators. Ed’s expertise also includes mergers/acquisitions including acquisition evaluation, negotiation, due diligence, integration, and related accounting requirements.
In addition to building finance organizations, Ed has managed information technology, human resources, compliance, and third-party medical billing.
During Ed’s tenure as the CFO of Beacon Hospice, Beacon grew from eleven locations to twenty-three offices and one inpatient facility. Ed negotiated and completed Beacon’s $40M debt financing with Citizens Bank, He managed the financing and integration for two acquisitions and he led the sale of the PE-backed hospice to Amedisys, Inc. (AMED).
Ed provided interim CFO services to Metrika, Inc., a blockchain analytics company assisting them from a seed stage through their first venture capital round of financing. Ed has served as the CFO of a number of early-stage technology companies.
As a business financial operations consultant at CLA, LLC., Ed performed due diligence and CFO consulting services to a variety of for-profit clients, including Green Tech Media, which he helped sell to Verisk Analytics, Inc. He assisted Orionis Bioscience, a multinational life science company with offices in Boston and Belgium, with the company’s Series B financing.
Ed served as Chief Financial Officer for ikaSystems Corporation, a $45M healthcare SaaS provider. iKA hosted enterprise software for health insurers. He managed the Company’s first external (E&Y) financial audit, as well as managing three rounds of equity financing.
Ed served as TravCorps’ first Chief Financial officer. TravCorps was the founder of the traveling healthcare industry. Edward led the effort to sell the Company to Chase Capital Partners in an LBO transaction. He also led a subsequent refinancing with Greylock Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners.
He spent his early career as a “Big Four” CPA, progressing to Senior Manager – Audit with Deloitte & Touche. His client base included several SEC manufacturing registrants, including L.S. Starrett (with subsidiaries in Scotland, Brazil, and St. Kitts), Fibronics International (with Manufacturing in Haifa Israel), IPL Systems, and Ocean Spray Cranberries. He also assisted clients with the accounting for several acquisitions and IPO’s.
Ed is a licensed CPA and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Financial Executives Institute, and the CFO Leadership Council. He graduated from Stonehill College with a degree in Accounting.
