Jim Bailey is an accomplished operational CFO with over three decades of experience as a senior finance professional in business units of both private and public companies, and a proven track record of implementing internally and acquisition-driven growth strategies. Jim’s successful career has seen every operating company that he served achieve record revenues, profits & asset utilization during his tenure. Jim has extensive experience with software, medical devices, value-added information services, professional services, distribution and manufacturing businesses.
Jim began his career with the Big 4 accounting firms of Deloitte Touche and Ernst & Young (E&Y). While at E&Y, Jim worked with the privately-owned business group assisting owners with their exit strategies by performing business valuations and seller packaging. Subsequently, while at The Analytic Sciences Corporation (TASC), which grew from $70 to $420 million during his tenure, he led the team responsible for the spin-out of one of the business units and supported the subsequent sale of the subsidiary. While CFO of another TASC subsidiary, Weather Services International, Jim helped the company achieve 290% growth in operating profits over a five-year period, while revenues grew a more modest 35%+, resulting in two consecutive years of record revenues and profits. He also supported the $120 million divestiture, due diligence and integration into the company’s new owner.
While CFO of Astra Tech, a medical devices business that grew from $20 to $180 million during his tenure, Jim drove the Finance and Administrative functions supporting the $70 million acquisition, merger and operational integration of Atlantis Components. During the subsequent $1.8 billion divestiture of Astra Tech (by Astra Zeneca) to DentsplySirona, Jim guided the overall due diligence effort and subsequently led cross-functional teams on several complex integrations of legal entities and significant operating units/product lines as a result of major post-acquisition restructurings and reorganizations.
Jim earned both a BS and an MBA from the University of Connecticut. He also received an MS in Finance from Bentley University. In addition, Jim is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
