Tom is a senior executive with more than thirty years of experience as a CEO, COO and CFO in early-stage, family-owned, and private equity-owned businesses. He has extensive experience in the Business Services, Technology and Direct Marketing sectors, as well as in high-growth and turnaround situations.

Tom successfully defined growth strategies and paired them with execution plans in several companies, resulting in substantive increases in sales growth, profitability, and enterprise value. He built and mentored high-performance management teams. Tom raised early-stage and growth capital for several businesses and managed numerous acquisitions as well as divestitures. He is an entrepreneur and understands the challenges and opportunities for early-stage growth companies.

Tom positioned several companies for successful M&A exits. The companies were each purchased for more than $100 million by strategic buyers and financial sponsors. He created substantial shareholder value in his role as a member of the Board of Directors.

CEO, COO and CFO Experience
Tom was CEO of a company owned by a private equity firm. He created a stabilization plan that reclaimed the previous year’s significant decline in sales and profitability. He developed a growth strategy and combined it with implementation plans, addressing the base business as well as new initiatives. Tom built and mentored an accomplished management team. The company was transformed into an industry leader and sold for $200 million.

Tom was Executive Vice President and CFO of a family-owned business. As a member of three-person office of the Chairman, he partnered with the CEO and COO, developing growth strategies and pairing them with operational plans that doubled sales and increased earnings tenfold. Tom positioned the company for a liquidity event, and it was sold for more than $100 million.

Tom was co-founder and COO of an early-stage business. He developed its initial business plan, raised $15 million in capital and grew the company to one hundred employees and $10 million in sales.

Strategic Advisor
Tom was able to generate substantive enterprise value for several companies during long-term advisory relationships. The relationships began through purchase evaluations of businesses or post-acquisition reviews. They evolved into long-term arrangements, working with management in areas of weakness, recruiting new team members and positioning the companies for sale. In one situation, Tom became CEO of the company. Another lasted for five years and the company was sold for more than $300 million.

Tom has served as a director of several companies, including portfolio companies owned by Summit Partners and Advent International. He was a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of Symmetric Capital and provided guidance, contacts and hands-on assistance to its investment team and portfolio companies.

Tom received a BS with honors from Boston College, Carroll School of Management and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School.
